Why we quote rather than publish rates
You will find plenty of sites quoting a headline rate for artificial grass. The problem is that any such figure only holds if your garden matches whatever assumptions sat behind it — a clear, level, rectangular plot with easy access and nothing to dig out.
Real gardens are rarely like that. Two jobs of identical size can differ substantially because one has a concrete slab to break out and no side access, and the other has an old lawn and a driveway to park the grab lorry on. Publishing a number would mean either quoting high enough to cover the worst case, or quoting low and revising it once we arrive. Neither is much use to you.
So we do it the other way round. We come out, measure the area properly, check access, levels and drainage, then put a fixed price in writing. It costs you nothing and there is no obligation.
What moves the figure
Size and shape of the area
Larger areas are more efficient to install. Curves, islands and awkward returns create offcuts and take longer to seam than long straight runs.
What is there now
Lifting an old lawn is straightforward. Breaking out concrete or an old patio means more machine time and more spoil to take away.
Access to the garden
A wide side gate keeps things quick. Where everything has to be barrowed through the house, every stage of the job takes longer.
Levels and slopes
Sloping plots need levelling, and sometimes retaining edges or a stepped design. That is groundwork rather than turf, but it is part of the job.
Turf grade
Pile height, density and backing all vary. A busy family garden wants something more hard-wearing than a low-traffic front lawn.
Edging and drainage
Timber, composite, steel or a paved border all behave differently. Genuinely waterlogged plots may also need a drain run designing in.

Comparing Quotes
Five things to check before you accept one
If one quote comes in noticeably below the others, it is almost always down to one of these. Ask for each in writing.
Excavation depth
Turf laid on a thin layer of grit instead of a proper compacted base will settle and ripple within a couple of seasons.
Spoil removal
Taking the dug-out material away is a real cost. If it is not written into the quote, it becomes a conversation later.
Perimeter edging
Without a fixed edge the turf lifts and curls at the boundaries. It is one of the first things to fail on a cheap install.
Seam method
Joins should be taped and glued. Pinned seams show as a visible line and open up over time.
Sand infill
Infill weights the lawn down and holds the pile upright. Leaving it out saves the installer money and shortens the life of the lawn.
